The Essential New Dog Checklist

Congratulations on your new best furrend! 🥳

Who knew that getting ready for the arrival of your new dog could be so exhausting? There is a lot of stuff out there and it can get a bit overwhelming so we are here to help you out.

We have created a short checklist of all the essentials you need to make your new best friend comfortable and happy at home.

PRE-PUPPY / DOG LIST

Adjustable collar based on the size (Please refrain from using prong, choke, e-collars, or anything that would make your dog uncomfortable).
Harness (There are great harnesses that have a no-pull clip, to help you control your dog during their walks).
Dog tags and registration
Food and water bowl
Healthy dog food (ask your vet for recommendations)
Poop bags
Bed or crate (big enough so they are comfortable)
Healthy treats and chews
Toys (plush, nylon, interactive)
Grooming (brush, shampoo, toothbrush and toothpaste)
Exercise pen (if you have space)
Grooming wipes (hypoallergenic baby wipes will do the trick)
Camera (a great way to check up on them, especially when you're not at home)
Enzyme spray for accidents (they will happen 💩)
Puppy pads (if you live in a condo, try Sparky on the Spot or Pooch Patch)

A certified trainer who uses positive reinforcement (check out your local shelter)
Puppy socialization classes
Certified walker (check out your local shelter)
Pet Insurance
Groomer
If you live in a condo, inform your building management about your new family member
